The Gherkin
30 st marys axe, better known as the gherkin is a 180m skyscraper located in the city of London. it was built between 2001-2003 and it the 9th tallest tower in London. The gherkin has become one of the most recognised London landmarks due to its ultra modern design. the exterior of the building is glad in energy efficient glass, enough to cover 5 football pitches. the building was designed to house offices and it currently home to many companies, mostly in the insurance sector. Level 37 - 40, searcys lounge bar/restaurant
About Searcys bar and restaurant is an exclusive hang out for the people who work in the gherkin. it is located right at the top of the building and offers magnificent views over central london. unfortunately, this excellent venue is not open to the general public, you have to either work in the gherkin or know someone who does to gain access. you can also join the vneue as a member, but you must pay a membership fee to do so. the space is open for events such as weddings, corporate events or private functions. level 36 - 2 offices About The gherkin provides 76,400 square metres of modern, luxury office space. each floor has large open plan spaces, with floor to ceiling windows allowing for the maximum amount of natural light. the gherkin uses half the power a similar sized building would, this is thanks to its energy saving design features such as a natural ventilation system and glazing that heats the internal rooms. |

Level 1 plaza and lobby
About one part of the gherkin that anyone can get access to is the plaza. Ok, technically that's not a part of the gherkin, but you are free to sit, each lunch and admire the 24,000 metres of glass that make up the exterior of the building. |
